The Ranch

Cattle

At Out of Bounds Ranch, we run 400-600 head of cattle April though October. Providing for the well-being and safety of our herd is our top priority. Our cattle husbandry and veterinary care is overseen and managed by two ranching veterans, Max Macdonnell and RaeLynn Renaldo.

Max

Max MacDonell is Out of Bounds Ranch’s Head of Operations. He is an "Old School” rancher and true “Local" who was born and raised in the Roaring Fork Valley. He developed his passion for ranching from an early age and never looked back. After graduating from Colorado State University in 1979 with a degree in animal science, Max began managing a ranch. Soon thereafter, in 1981, Max leased what is now the Out of Bounds Ranch, where he has run cows, calves, yearlings and raised all-natural, grass-fed beef for the past 40 years. Max’s care and passion for the animals’ wellbeing and stewardship of the land is second to none.

When not on the ranch, Max and RaeLynn enjoy competing in rodeos and jackpots throughout Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and Utah.

Max inspires everyone around him to be the best version of themselves.

RaeLynn

RaeLynn MacDonell is Out of Bounds Ranch’s Administrative Manager. Her primary role is to keep Max and Scott in check with her eye on all of the details that are required in running such an operation. When not tending to OBR business, RaeLynn’s true passion is Barrel Racing. She won the 2021 Snowmass/Carbondale Champion “Buckle” for Barrel Racing! Besides spending time with her family, there is nothing she would rather be doing.

RaeLynn is such a joy and badass to be around. She keeps us running like a fine-tuned engine. Nothing gets by her and I’ve tried!
